THE FUNERAL SERVICE for Jim Lecky will be Tuesday, August 14 at 1 pm at Knox, with the graveside service at National Memorial Park to follow immediately. A reception and fellowship will then be held back at Knox in fellowship hall. A visitation will be held on Monday, August 13 from 6-9 pm at Murphy’s Funeral Home in Falls Church. An informal prayer and praise service will be held at Murphy’s at 7:45 p.m.
Pentecost Sunday, May 20
Sunday, May 20, we celebrate Pentecost, with a dramatic reading from Acts 2, the choir sings “Whom Shall I Fear”, we blow bubbles outside as a symbol of the Spirit wind, and we’ll be preparing CWS Hygiene Kits for disaster areas around the world. We still need hand towels (15″ X 28 to 16″X32″, no microfiber or dishcloths), standard size band aids, toe or finger nail clippers, bath-size bars of soap in wrappers and wide-tooth combs.
Special Movie Event – Chasing Coral
DO NOT MISS THIS! Chasing Coral, 2017 Sundance Award winning film to be shown April 29 at noon. Mark Eakin, research scientist for the film will be present for the Q & A. The photography is beyond belief and the story moving. This is a film to grab your heart and move you to even one tiny action of respect for the ocean and the land.

Easter Sunday
Children through 6th grade are invited to an Easter Egg Hunt at 9:15 a.m., to be followed by light refreshments.
Then join us for joyous Easter Worship with communion and the flowering of the cross at 10:15 a.m., followed by refreshments in Fellowship Hall. During fellowship, we will be dyeing hardboiled eggs for the Bailey’s shelter.
Maundy Thursday
Thursday, March 29, there will be a light supper at 6 p.m., followed by worship and communion in the sanctuary. Everyone is invited to attend. We will be eating with our hypothermia guests.
Sunday, March 11
Join us for worship this Sunday, March 11 and stay after fellowship to hear special guest speaker, Alan Ford, from the Native Plant Society. This is part of our congregation’s care for creation. Everyone is welcome to attend the presentation.
Annual Congregational Meeting – Sunday, Jan. 28
Don’t forget the annual congregational meeting which will be this Sunday, Jan. 28, immediately after worship. A potluck lunch will follow.
It’s a New Year
Happy New Year! This Sunday, January 7, is Epiphany Sunday. We’ll be celebrating by distributing Star Gift Words in worship. Everyone is given a word and is asked to reflect on that word for the coming year. The people are invited to ponder what significance this word might have in their lives, and how God might be speaking to them through that simple message. What will your word be for 2018? Come and see.

Here’s a great holiday service opportunity for you, your family, your friends, your office, etc. Help replenish the supply of hygiene kits for disaster areas. We’re collecting the contents for CWS hygiene kits which are sent to disaster areas in the U.S. and around the world. You may drop off any of the kit contents (see below) at Knox.
On Sunday, Dec. 10, 11 a.m. we’ll have a kit-assembly celebration in Fellowship Hall.
Contents of hygiene kits (please no substitutions!)
1 hand towel 15″x26″ to 16″x32″ (no micro fiber or dish towels)
1 washcloth
1 wide tooth comb
1 fingernail clipper
1 bath size bar of soap in the wrapper
1 toothbrush in the package
10 standard Band-aids

Crop Walk to Reduce Hunger – Nov. 5
CROP walks are neighbors walking together to raise money to take a stand against hunger in our world. Some 2,000 communities across the country take part each year. The Falls Church registration begins at 1:00 p.m. The walk begins 1:30 p.m. Link here to the CROP walk website
