Saturday October 6, Sunday Oct 7, and Monday Oct 8
What a Jubilee Weekend
.
The Lord shone
upon us with His grace and provided a beautiful weekend for
the event. People came from far and near with their children (of
all ages) to renew acquaintances at Knox.
Saturday evening began with a reception which was followed by a
delicious dinner of Cordon Bleu with all the trimmings and dessert
of apple and pecan pies with a serving of frozen custard. Chef Mike
Crotty was in the kitchen, so everything went smoothly there.
Dorothy Jackson furnished all of the pies for the dessert
and weren't they delicious.
Well over l00 people were in attendence. The entertainment was directed
by Bob Fuqua with Vanessa Kozmon offering musical
accompaniment. The roving microphone captured different people as
they talked about the history of Knox and these were interspersed
with skits and songs.
World Communion was offered Sunday morning with special
music by the choir, brass instruments and included several past choir
members. A very enthusiastic Fellowship Hour followed the Worship
Service. Later on the scene changed and the Fellowship Hall became
a picnic-like scene with hamburgers and hot dogs, salads and desserts
available. Once again there were over l00 attending the Worship Service
and a good number stayed for the picnic.
The Ruth and Rebecca Circle ladies served up a scrumptious
brunch Monday morning with hot foods and sausage, fruit plates, cheese
plates and many kinds of breads and bagels.
I can't begin to thank all that came, but we must realize
that Knox has a "power" - if there is a job to be done -
so many turn out with smiles on their faces and they go to work! It
is most amazing! However, a special thank you to Karen and
Ray Jones who worked manydays before and were there all three
days of the Jubilee. And there were others that preached, cooked,
did dishes, cleaned, made table decorations, served, put in a sound
system, danced in the skits, sang, put up chairs and tables (many times)
played their instruments - the list goes on and on. Many of those
who returned to Knox for this event said what a good time they had
and how nice it was to be back at Knox.
I do thank all of you for your support, you are the
best!

Also please note: The exquisite Frozen Custard served at the
Saturday evening dinner was purchased at the "Frozen Custard"
stand near the corner of Annandale Road and Route 50. They are also
50 years in the business and many Knox families remember going to
the little Art Deco Stand on a hot summers night for that special
treat. They gave Knox a good price on the custard we ordered for the
Jubilee. It was a taste of yesterday to those returning to the area
for the event.
