The A-B-C method | ![]() |
|
At
the May meeting
of National Capital Presbytery, several guest speakers challenged our
churches to become more missional. One speaker suggested
that most churches evaluate their health with the A-B-C
method: Attendance-Building-Cash
The term missional describes a new, yet very Biblical understanding, of what the church is called to be. Missional derives, obviously, from mission, which means to go and spread good news, as Jesus commanded in Matthew 28. For the church today, including Presbyterians, becoming a missional church has to do with our concern and care for those outside the walls of the church, as well as those inside. Being missional seems to mean allowing God to change our hearts and minds and to allow God to send us out to meet and greet ALL people (inside and out of the church) with the love of Christ. Is Knox a missional Church? Yes, when we are sent, by God, into the world and everyday life, guided by a desire to love and serve others; all others. God has a plan to send us out into a world that is craving for some hope and good news. Are we Missional Presbyterians? Yes, we are!
