PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN
Biographys by Robbie Snow
Pineapple Souffle at Fellowship Luncheon
Forty-three members of the Knox Church family marked Charlotte Hagen's
90th birthday at a luncheon in her honor at the Falls Church Red Lobster. As a surprise Charlotte's daughter Lynn drove in from Norfolk Virginia to join in the celebration. Charlotte has been attending Knox Church since the time of the first planning meetings in 1951. Charlotte and her family lived at the nearby Jefferson Village apartments (now Kingsly Commons) and could walk to church. Click here for Charlotte's biography Presbyterian Women of Knox Church PURPOSE Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves:
Presbyterian Women (PW) is a churchwide organization whose membership is open to all women. The members are women who choose to participate in or be supportive of the organization in any way. PW intentionally seeks the membership of women from all racial-ethnic groups so that the organization may reflect a vision of the whole church as a community of mutual interdependence in which diversity contributes to wholeness. PW gives strong support to the mission of the PC(USA) and determines its own leadership, program, and budget. Presbyterian Women is organized at all levels of the PC(USA) in congregations, presbyteries, and synods as well as General Assembly. The connectional system allows ideas and information to continually flow back and forth to strengthen the work of Presbyterian Women and the Ministry of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Horizons magazine, published bi-monthly, provides ideas and inspirational information for Presbyterian Women. In addition, they are our source for our Bible study. SPECIAL MINISTRIES OF PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN: Birthday Offering - The offering is a national Presbyterian Women event. It is collected in the spring and is distributed to mission projects specially selected by the Creative Ministries Committee in Louisville, Kentucky (PW headquarters). Thank Offering - This is also a nation-wide Presbyterian Women offering. It is collected in November and is distributed to those ministries that specifically concern health issues. Least Coin - A monthly collection of each person's "least coin". This continuing tradition was started years ago by an overseas missionary to show that when many people give even a few coins that money adds up and can be used for God's purposes. Moderator: Becky Proctor
