Presbyterians are distinctive in two major ways. They adhere to a pattern of religious thought known as Reformed theology and a form of government that stresses the active, representational leadership of both ministers and church members.

Christian worship joyfully ascribes all praise and honor, glory and power to the triune God. In worship the people of God acknowledge God present in the world and in their lives. As they respond to God’s claim and redemptive action in Jesus Christ, believers are transformed and renewed. In worship the faithful offer themselves to God and are equipped for God’s service in the world.

PCUSA serves in the wider world through the areas of advocacy and social justice, education, disaster response, faith and worship, hunger and poverty, immigration, and interfaith relations.

National Capital Presbytery

The National Capital Presbytery values being missional, pastoral, and prophetic.  The Presbytery supports efforts for the PCUSA churches in the National Capital Region to go out into the world while caring for its congregations, elders, and educators.  The Presbytery seeks to connect its congregations in order to call out the status quo according to the gospel.

For over 70 years, Knox Presbyterian Church has celebrated faith and service with programs that reach our members, our neighbors, and our world.  We are best described as a small, friendly church nestled within a convenient suburban neighborhood.

Knox’s Vision and Mission Statement

Our vision is that we are a Christ-centered Church, Loving the Lord, Growing in Discipleship, and Sent to serve our Community.

Building on a strong faith, energized by the possibilities God holds for us, we covenant to work to spread The Word, to welcome all in a spirit of inclusion through a special focus on generations under forty.

Our priority is to cultivate the feeling that each member is a part of a church family.  From Bible study to choir, scouting, teaching, and service to the community, your talents will be appreciated and recognized, and you will grow along with us in your journey of faith.  Visitors are always welcome.

Our Session is made up of Ruling Elders, who are elected representatives of the congregation.  The Session, in association with the pastor, exercises government and discipline and takes oversight of the spiritual interests of the Church.
